I was not sure where to ask this, it is a question or ends up being a suggestion/idea.
Can the editing of a table be tagged by something other than the WP User ID? I am for using that, but we have a situation that may or may not be common in that a team of people who may not have to login to WP to use a table to edit data, will not have a User ID active at that time. We can of course force them to sign in.
Or more common is that one user can do the data entry for everyone and their WP User ID might be on the table record so it is impossible to guarantee the user id will match who the boss wants to see and edit what.
Yes, that is Nice to Have, to allow any field value to limit editing, we do not want every team member to see any one else's data on the table data from MYSQL.
When the table pulls down the data, it should only be by the person who say we identify by a name or something else we keep on our database per each record. The idea to use WP User ID is totally great, but we may have a data entry person on the Form side who does not need to sign in to WP.
In our world, not everyone who looks at the data is the person who entered it or even edited it prior. Sort of like not being able to use a LAST UPDATED BY field I used to see in ORACLE. The editing per user is fluid and not a 1 to 1, WPUSER to DATA.
My solution now is to use simple javascript in the Foms plugin to assign the WP UserID to the name of the person entered on the forms for the data. This eliminates the boss needing to recall who's name goes with the WP ID when she wants to re-assign records to someone else. I know the IDs and put them into a small table once I find them in WP.
So using any MYSQL field that is in the table to limit viewing and editing would eliminate all that work and setup. Not a problem, but easier and if I leave them with this setup, it is not as much to explain, they are not tech minded as much but I am trying to teach a little. Hope that helped and clarified.
We use your PRO version with the PRO version of Form Maker, with both, they do really well and do a lot!
Users that are not logged in in the WP can edit the table but you can not limit the data that they can see and edit. This is only possible for the users that have WP account.
For example if person 1 ( which is not logged in WP ) go to that table he will see all of the entries in that table, also he/she can add some of the entries and edit them.
If you enable Users can see and edit their own data option then the non logged in users can not see the data from other users.
I totally agree, this was more a suggestion not an issue. I work around all this using Form Maker to assign the WP ID even if the person who is entering the data in MYSQL, hence the WPDATA table, is not the same person responsible for editing. It would just allow us to drop using Forms and JS to assign WP ID, if we had the option or ability to use any other field on the table to limit editing. Like User Name. Not critical, and maybe in the end, just using what we have setup outside WPDATA is ok. Was just looking for feedback, I get the setup today, np. Thanks Bogdan, you can close this out.

Hi Alan,
Thank you for your purchase.
As I understand you want to enable editing for the users that does not have the user name and password for your site.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Best regards.
