Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.
I also successfully made some changes to the table ID 1.
Also I recreated the table ( wpdatatables support table) on your site so can you please try to recreate the issue there so we can keep the table ID 1 as it is.
Also please tell me did you made some changes in the excel file, like for example adding more columns or delete some of them in the core file.
Probably there was some major changes in the file, for example change the column name, or position etc based on the error that I received when i investigated that table.
When you create table with the import option the table is automatically saved in the database. Because of that every change in the file may cause this issue so the table can not be read from the database.
So probably that was the main source of the problem so if you recreate the table you should not have that issue any more because the new table and the all settings from it is saved to the database.
I worked on two new tables for well over an hour until I tried to Allow an Empty Value, adding a new Value to table ID 28. That produce the error. Returning to the table and trying to remove the new Value (see attached screen shot) again produced the error.
Following are errors from the PHP log:
[Wed Mar 21 20:42:25.919547 2018][:error][pid 10151] [client 129.19.185.1:55277] PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /nas/content/staging/cmc/wp-content/plugins/wpdatatables/templates/admin/table-settings/add_column_modal.inc.php on line 72

Glad to hear that, hope that everything will work fine.
You are welcome.

Thanks.
When I edit Column Settings, clicking Apply or Save will not close the Column Setting window. My only option is to leave the page and lose my changes.
Please advise.

I made a color edit to table ID 25 without a problem.
On table ID 1, I made a width edit while in the Data Source admin view without a problem.
A second edit on table ID 1, starting from the Display admin view (adding a class), produced the error — unable to save. or close the column edit.
Yes, I did clear my cache prior to the session.
thanks, Frank

I don't think the excel file had change.
Just now I did replace Table ID 1 with an updated version (same columns) to test. I Applied the new spreadsheet successfully.
Same issue, however, when making changes to Column settings. I can make a few change, then it won't save or cancel.
thanks, Frank
HI Frank,
Probably there was some issue before the update of the file which I can not reproduce it now even on my side or on your side with the table ID 26.
Can you please tell me do you have the same issue when you are trying to configure the table ID 26.
Best regards.

No issues with table ID 26. Is there a fix or a difference between the table?
thanks, Frank

No issues! A little more testing and I'll update the live site.
I'm looking forward to integrating tuition comparison charts on the site.
Thanks for all your help.

I'm planning on updating the WP DataTables plugin on our live site on Thursday. I'm not deploying the staging site to live.
Will you need to patch the update? Or, can I copy the patched file(s) into the plugin on the live site?
Thanks, Frank
Hi Frank,
If you update the plugin on your live site I can also patch the issue there, no problem.
Best regards.
