when I enter a new data set and click "apply and add new", the value for the dropdown (foreign key to another table) isn't being reset. If I leave the field as is and enter data for the other fields, I get the error:
Error! [Column] field cannot be empty!
So, it seems like the field value is being reset to NULL but not the displayed name.

Yes we notice that. Thank you for reporting this. I will forward this to my team to investigate that. My suggestion is for now when you adding new data to choose also that category which is using foreign keys.
