Hi - We are an Australian based website, with predominantly Australian readers, so we recently moved server locations from the US to Australia. Since then our wp admin has been much slower. Our host, WP Engine, have looked into this and said the following:

I was able to temporarily enable New Relic (an application performance monitoring tool) in order to do a deep dive into what is causing problems. I found the same information as Jonathon, with the external calls being the main cause of performance suffering. Below we can see what domains are taking up the most amount of time.

I've attached the screenshot from New Relic and as you will see wpdatatables is the 2nd slowest component. This means wpdatatables adds an extra 3.6 seconds to each admin page load. I'm not sure if it is every admin page, but it is certainly the most regularly used ones such as the dashboard, posts and plugins.
Please can you advise if there is any way to improve this?
Unfortunately this is not something that can be "fixed" on our side.
We understand that our plugin is "heavy" in terms of requirements but from our experience Wp Engine can be the issue when we talk about the speed and load of the page.
Unfortunately we do not have any more information or details about the WP Engine. Only thing I know is that the plugin is working with WP Engine but also from some old tickets I know that the speed is not something that is good when we talk about the performance.
Your 3.6 seconds are quite acceptable because I know that some users have load time from 5-15 seconds.
