I've had version 1.7.2 installed for a while. My purchase code has been saved in the settings area for a while too, but I don't receive notifications of updates.
Perhaps the newer version doesn't have an auto-update feature. But I've also tried to update manually using your instructions and it doesn't work. I get 'Error 500' messages.
In the FTP area, I tried manually deleting and replacing one sub-folder at a time, instead of deleting and replacing the entire wpdatatables folder. This seemed to work, until it came to the individual wpdatatables.php file. After deleting that out and replacing it, I started getting the 'Error 500' messages again.
These errors then break my whole site, and I have to use one of my backups to restore my site.
If there isn't an auto-update available since 1.7.2, is there another way to manually update, or is there a particular issue causing this kind of error?
2.) Use FTP to open /yourwordpressfolder/wp-content/plugins
3.) Delete existing wpdatatables folder.
4.) Upload previously downloaded wpdatatables folder through FTP to plugins folder (unzip it)
5.) Go to WP-admin panel, open Plugins section.
6.) Deactivate wpDataTables, and then activate it again.
The
500 Internal Server Error is a server-side error, meaning the problem
probably isn't with your computer, Internet connection or plug ins
but instead is a problem with the web site's server.
Can
you please investigate your server log and see if there is some
errors.
Thank you. In the meantime version 2.0.2 has been released with automatic update. My host has advised me to use SFTP as a more secure alternative for future cases, using either FileZilla or WinSCP, so I'll do that if it comes up again.
