I received a notice some weeks back for an update to the plugin and it was a zip file that I tired to update but it failed. I tried to update the plugin from the wordpress dashboard plugins section and it failed too. I went into phpmyadmin to do edit some data on existing tables and some of the tables are not showing up in the database although my programs are interacting with the database. Specifically tables 

Update, It was my error that I could not see the additional tables in my database so the one issue I have is that I cannot update the plugin, it fails when I try.

Did your plugin upgrade installation fail with the following message?

"The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature "

No I did not see a message like that, I just got the standard "Update Failed: The package could not be installed"

For some reason, my WordPress admin plugin page no longer indicates that an upgrade is available to wpDataTables.

It indicates that I am at version "1.7.1".

I think it may have something to do with the wpDataTables auto-update function, but I'm not sure.

So what can I do about it?

At this point, I don't know. Like you, I am working with the TMS support personnel to define next steps.

Yes, mine is 1.7.1 as well. I hope this does not mean that the plugin has been abandoned.

I don't think that the plugin has been abandoned. 

I suspect that the auto-update feature does not react well when there is a problem (for whatever reason) during the installation of an upgrade.

So what am I to do? check back? will I be contacted? I am near launch of a site.

I was able to delete my existing wpDataTables plugin directory, sign in to my Envato Market account, download the v1.7.2 zip file and install the upgrade using my WordPress admin screen. It appears to be working correctly.

ok, so when I delete my existing wpDataTables plugin directory I will lose the work and tables I have created is that right? Granted the tables I have created are in my phpmyadmin panel but I assume the connection and work will be lost, is that correct?

I am not sure what instructions you mean. When I click on the 1.7.2 update it fails and I get the standard wordpress update error.

I tried to upload the zip file through the Wordpress pplugins area and it failed. Then I went to option 2 which was to upload the folder using filezilla etc and I uploaded it and then went back to plugins and it showed there was an update to 1.7.2 and I clicked on it to update it and it failed also. What am I missing?

I was checking into the latest info about not being able to get the 1.7.2 update on the plugin and confirm you received my last message on the login to the ftp account.

That is crazy, I cannot figure out how in the world you are seeing my computer. Let me look into it but I am perplexed right now.

Bodgan, Is it possible for you to explain what needs to be done since I log in easily. I develop software and am pretty familiar with the structures etc.

I did have s2member, I just now disabled it and any plugins that should affect getting in. Let me know if that affected it. There should be nothing else that I can think of.

 Bogdan, I have created a temp menu for the website so that people will not see the current errors. Do you have any idea what is happening to it?

We are launching our website next week, I will have to put in place the security once again. Is there any resolution on the problem yet? I am also concerned that I am not able to update with current threats out there.

Do you think that uninstalling the plugin, reinstalling it and creating new tables will fix the problem? If so, this is the last weekend before launch that I can do that. If this is a definite possibility to fix the problem, if I can get a link to the plugin to reinstall it then I can try that too. Downtime will be more difficult after this weekend.

I was incorrect earlier when I said wp_vhrn_wpdatatable_32 table was working, none are. Is there  any decision on what to do next?

Is there an update on what to do? On my website when I try to access the tables with a Mysql connection it error's out however when I use the shortcode  to call the table, it will display. Unfortunately, all my connections are through Mysql queries.

I do not recall a ZipArchive download, Would there have been a notification for it?

What should be done next?

I am in dire straights now, up until the end of last week I could still work with the tables and access the data, I am down now and I desperately need to get this resolved. What needs to be done? 

So is the best thing to do at this point to delete the plugin, reinstall it and then look at the ZipArchive?

It is fixed. I had to delete the plugin, delete the folder on the server, delete all the tables then reload the plugin, create new tables and insert new table references.

Sorry for the delay Bogdan, I tried to log in to reply the other day and had trouble at the time and forgot to get back. Yes everything is working fine. After wiping out all tables and reinstalling etc the version 1.7.2 is active. Thank you for you help with resolving this.
