When I use the Edit wpDataTable feature to update an existing wpDataTable definition, some of my Data Source settings are lost and I have to re-enter them every time. This happens even if I do not want to change anything about the data source and just want to make a minor change to one of the display table headings.
For example, the 'ID column for editing' value always prompts me to select the key identifier field for front-end editing. Also, if I have included any placeholders in the SQL definition, the %CURRENT_USER_ID% always goes back to a value of 1, therefore I must change it in order for my query to return some records. If I do not do this, my data source definition fails.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.
I noticed that you are using 1.7.1 version of our plugin and the 1.7.2 version is out. Can you please update it to the latest version so I can investigate the issue, if you still have it. In 1.7.2 version the issue with grouping column is fixed, so check that after update.
You can auto update the plugin by entering the purchase code in wpdatatables settings page or you can manually update the plugin by following this steps:
It looks like something went wrong with the auto-update and we need to investigate it. For now you can manually update the plugin. Login to your Envato account and then go to the link that I provided you. ---this link Then follow the steps in the comments below. You should see the download button by the every purchase on Envato. If you do not see the download button please send me the screenshot of that so I can take a look.

On a related note, I am also having a problem with another setting not being saved.
I have set a column as a 'Grouping' column, but when I save the table definition, the Grouping button is unsets itself.

You can auto update the plugin by entering the purchase code in wpdatatables settings page or you can manually update the plugin by following this steps:
1.) Download zip from this link
2.) Use FTP to open /yourwordpressfolder/wp-content/plugins
3.) Delete existing wpdatatables folder.
4.) Upload previously downloaded wpdatatables folder through FTP to plugins folder (unzip it)
5.) Go to WP-admin panel, open Plugins section.
6.) Deactivate wpDataTables, and then activate it again.

Can you please provide a link that is more specific to the zip file that I require?
The link you provided just takes me to a general 'downloads' page.
I have updated my wpDataTables Settings to include my purchase code so that it should auto-update.
How is the auto-update process initiated?
During the plugin version update process, I received the following error:
"The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature "
Hi John
Can you please confirm me did you instal ZipArchive on your server.
This error can be related when the Zip extension is not installed.
Best regards.

Bogdan:
I did this update via my WordPress admin after it notified me that the plugin had an update available.
So, I did not download the zip file and install it manually.
That said, the admin plugin update process failed.
Any updates on this?

I was able to download the v1.7.2 zip file, upload it and install it using my WordPress admin.
The plugin appears to be working correctly.
Hi John,
I am glad that everything is working fine now.
