Not sure whether this issue has been identified by others, but I have just recently encountered a problem with the Excel-like backend editor after updating from version 1.7.1 to 1.7.2. It doesn't save new records when using Chrome v57.0.2987.98, and the Excel-like backend editor does not appear at all in Firefox v52.0 (32-bit). Anyone else facing the same issue?
Curious on the version being used at the sandbox. A quick test seems to be work properly over there though.
Anyway, currently reverting back to the working 1.7.1 because I rely on Excel-like to duplicate & edit records in the backend.
This is the first time that we hear about that issue. Can you please deactivate/activate the plugin again and see if it will work after that. Thank you.
Thanks for the prompt response. Didn't see any change when deactivate/active the latest plugin. Spending a little more time checking on this, I found that after clearing the browser cache, reload the backend Excel-like editor and using Chrome Developer Tools, the console shows "Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input" for /wp-content/plugins/wpdatatables/assets/js/wpdatatables/wpdatatables_excel.min.js?ver=4.7.3. Digging into the 1 byte wpdatatables_excel.min.js file, the content is just a "-". Redownload from CodeCanyon for the latest v1.7.2 plugin shows that same file has the same single "-" content. Anyway, replacing wpdatatables_excel.min.js with the older copy from v1.7.1 (around 22.9kb in file size) seems to allow the Excel-like backend editor to appear and save/edit/delete records. Not sure whether the older copy will break anything, but I guess I will find out soon enough.
The best workaround is to copy ../wp-content/plugins/wpdatatables/assets/js/wpdatatables/wpdatatables_excel.js and paste it instead of wpdatatables_excel.min.js and see do you have issue again. Maybe this is happening because jQuery version because we couldn't reproduce the issue with file wpdatatables_excel.min.js.
We found what the issue is. Can you please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us. Thank you.
Thanks for the replies. Currently I think I've solved the issue a few days ago. I'm guessing the latest plugin zip installer came with an incomplete minified wpdatatables/assets/js/wpdatatables/wpdatatables_excel.min.js. All I did was using JStool in Notepad++ to minify and save a .min.js version of wpdatatables/assets/js/wpdatatables/wpdatatables_excel.js from the same directory and it has been working since. Will keep in touch again if anything weird comes about.
You are right, it is our mistake which slipped when we minified the files. Thank you for letting us know. Hope you would not have any issues. Best regards.
