I grouped a table over a text column containing the year (text format) for each row. I would like to sort Descending on that grouped column in a way that I could see recent years first. Headers for my table are: "Year, Name, Institution"
Grouping and sorting work as expected but not both at the same time. Is there a way to evercome this?
And you will also find a table definition screeenshot enclosed. When I tick "group" on Year it shows me grouped data from 2009 to 2015. Even if I tick "order descending" it shows always data in the same way, i.e. 2009 to 2015.
Now I can see the table. Can you please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Also please check in your database the column type for that columns.
I created the wpDataTables Support page on your site so please take a look. The sorting for dates are working fine as I can see and the dates are sorted from the recent years first. Pleases take a look at attachments. First one is on page load the second one is when I click the sort button for the Date column.
Also a notice: When I enter any of your pages I get this error
ReferenceError: ajaxurl is not defined
/wp-includes/js/wp-lists.min.js?ver=4.7.2:1
And when I am on the admin panel I got this error
TypeError: Cannot read property 'hasClass' of undefined
/wp-admin/load-scripts.php?c=0&load%5B%5D=hoverIntent,common,admin-bar,heartbeat,autosave,quicktags,jquery-query,admin-comments,postbox,jquery-ui-position,jquery-ui-menu,&load%5B%5D=wp-a11y,jquery-ui-autocomplete,tags-suggest,tags-box,word-count,post,editor-expand,thickbox,shortcode,media-editor,media-audiovi&load%5B%5D=deo,mce-view,imgareaselect,image-edit,svg-painter,wp-auth-check,jquery-ui-slider,imagesloaded,masonry,jquery-ui-accordion,jquery&load%5B%5D=-ui-draggable,jquery-ui-droppable,jquery-ui-resizable,jquery-effects-core,editor,wplink,media-upload,wp-embed&ver=4.7.2:646
So maybe you can investigate your server log or if you have some other plugins try to deactivate one by one and see what may cause this issue.
Regarding the error you got entering the page, I did not see it. However, I have just deactivated 3 plugin. Will see now...
I see your draft page and the table is sorting data alright, as it did before. The problem is that I want Group by year and sort desc by year (the same column). Is it possible? I have just tick group on the year column + order descending by year but the table shows always the same, i.e., the grouped row headings 2009 to 2015 and I would like to see 2015 to 2009.
The idea is to show the 2015 group first, 2012 the second and 2009 the last one. Do you think it is possible?
Sorry for misunderstanding now I see what are you trying to achieve. Unfortunately sorting grouped column is not available at the moment and it is not possible to do it with build in features. But we will consider your suggestion and maybe we can implement it in future. Sorry to disappoint you and thank you for understanding.

Hi Bogdan,
Thank you for your prompt response. Here is the link to the table on the webpage http://ribosynthesis.riboclub.org/organizers/#previous
And you will also find a table definition screeenshot enclosed.
When I tick "group" on Year it shows me grouped data from 2009 to 2015. Even if I tick "order descending" it shows always data in the same way, i.e. 2009 to 2015.
Best,
Leandro
My plugin is Version 1.7.1
Loading forever... I am not sure why.
Please try again http://ribosynthesis.riboclub.org/organizers/#previous
Or even http://ribosynthesis.riboclub.org/ and then Organizers/Previous Organizers tab on the top menu.
Thanks,
Leandro
