In the instructions for building a serialized php array it says to create a standalone php file that will return the serialized array. Can I call is_user_logged_in() in this standalone php file? Can I call user_can() in the file? I want to make sure this file is only executed by the wpdatatables plugin and not executed directly from the internet. Maybe a nonce should be supported for security.
I'm trying to use php to provide the data for the tables but I don't want to create a standalone php file for that (since someone could retrieve data using the standalone php file without logging into the site). I think I have figured out a solution. I can add a filter on wpdatatables_filter_serialized and provide the data in my filter function. The standalone php file will just return an array containing enough information for the filter function to actually retrieve the data.
